JON WASSOM – PALETTES OF THE WORLDAugust 23, 2015
Taking a trip around the world and landing back in the Shade Projects, John Wassom’s Palettes of the World shows he has no shortage of vibrant colors, detailed textures or creative style.

A mixed media collection that traveled from the tombs of King Tutankhamen to the waters of Venice, Italy, the platform was set for and experience of the roads explored. Primarily made with acrylic paints and oils, but in some pieces a bit of everything was used to work with. Blending colors and materials to create masterful pieces that not only represent the artistic vision of the collection, but that depict the natural reality of our world.

My focus is how each texture, color, and shape connects and dances with one another within the abstractions, while the realistic elements give the viewer a basic platform to encourage and draw out their own experiences. – John Wassom

A great description of how he meshed colors, made shapes, and created separation, the visual appeal of the materials jumping off the canvas is literally “head-turning.”Stacking colors and pushing them into buildings, faces, mountains, and countries, created some truly one-of-a-kind artwork…

I hope you got a chance to see him at MonOrchid Gallery this past month but if not, make sure to check out his portfolio HERE or his Facebook page HERE… Enjoy!
