Realistic Eye: Drawing and Painting with Charcoal on Canvas Workshop
2-Day Online Workshop $60
In this workshop we will be working with charcoals to get dramatic effects of light and shadow. I will demonstrate how I like to manipulate charcoals, and the benefits of working with them rather than graphite pencil. I like them for quicker, and more effective drawing techniques. We will learn some basic concepts of shading, before we try our hand at creating the illusion of a realistic eye on canvas! I believe I have found some fun, and unique ways to work with charcoals that I would like to share with you. We will draw with them…AND PAINT with them!!! So much fun.
This is a 2-day workshop where you provide your own supplies. Check the recommended supply list below, as well as the link to the Amazon supply list to make sure you have what you need. This workshop will take place on the following days within a private Facebook group:
Day 1: Friday May 29th from 2-5 pm Mountain Standard Time
-Prepping your canvases to work on for the following day
-Practicing basic drawing techniques on paper with charcoal
-Use a white sphere reference to practice seeing and drawing light and shadow
Day 2: Saturday May 30th from 2-5 pm Mountain Standard Time
-Getting the basic outline of the human eye transferred onto your canvas
-Creating a realistic human eye on canvas with my unique charcoal painting and drawing techniques
(PLEASE check your time zones if you wish to join live).
The demonstration will be a live Facebook video (that you can view at a later time if you can’t make the workshop when we start). I will do a 2.5 hour demo each day, with a 15-30 minute wrap-up Zoom meeting afterward. Zoom is an app you will need to download if you wish to be a part of this portion. We will use it for my interactive feedback. It is a group video chat that each member will be able to share their piece with me (as well as the group). Everyone will be able to learn from one another this way. If you aren’t able to make the Zoom meeting, you can contact me privately for a few minutes of feedback after the workshop is over.
*Payment must be received before member approval…Please send me a message once you have paid and send a request to join the group so I know who to add. If your PayPal or Venmo name is different than your Facebook name, let me know that as well. Once I receive payment I will add you to the group within 24 hours. I’m excited to do this online workshop! Your continued artistic and financial support means the world at this time! Contact me if you have any questions.
